Skyhawks STEM Sports®

At the beginning of 2019, STEM Sports® began a partnership with Skyhawk Sports. Skyhawks provides skill-based sports programs for kids 4 to 14 through summer camps, after-school programs, leagues and classes. They focus on developing athletic skills as well as life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship and respect.

This partnership is a perfect fit for both STEM Sports® and Skyhawks. Based on Skyhawks’ mission, we customized STEM Sports® kits to aid in the development of their program. This will be unique and beneficial to the children participating in Skyhawks because they will get to participate in the sports they love while also furthering their STEM education.

In the summer of 2019, Skyhawks will begin implementing our STEM kits into their summer programs. They will be using our STEM Basketball, STEM Football, STEM Soccer and STEM Volleyball kits to help their participants reach their STEM literacy.

Skyhawks STEM Sports® will use two formats to incorporate the new curriculum. The first is the STEM Sports® format that explores the science, technology and innovation behind basketball, football, soccer and volleyball. The other, “STEM and Play” format, will combine the traditional Skyhawks skill approach with the first-of-its-kind STEM Sports kit.

All kits align with Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). This allows kids to have an immersive active learning experience that is both fun and educational.

Skyhawks has been influencing youth since 1979. STEM Sports® is excited to partner with an organization whose efforts are built on teaching life skills through sports. This program will provide kids with a positive experience in both STEM and sports during their most impressionable years, which we hope will translate over to their adult life.
