STEM Golf Curriculum & Activities
for Grades 3-5 & 6-8

Enhance students’ STEM skills with STEM Sports golf curriculum and activities

Swing into a great educational course with our STEM Golf curriculum. If your students are having a rough time learning traditional STEM skills, approach our program with our partner PGA TOUR Tee-Up and their outstanding golf equipment. It is a fair way to develop young students’ drive to be better leaders and problem solvers.

The eight-lesson pace of STEM Golf bumps and runs through lessons such as:

  • How the rotation of the earth causes a change in the atmosphere and hydrosphere, creating different climates across the globe and thus affecting a golf course and its grass.
  • Gaining knowledge about gravity and/or gravitational force applied by the earth on objects directed down, which includes golf balls.
  • Learning about distance and potential energy through the practice of swinging a club at different angles and speeds and thus swing radius.
  • The composition of a golf ball which is often unknown yet unique, with an assist from Callaway Golf®. Students will learn why there are “dimples” on a ball and how they affect the flight and spin of the ball.

While the teacher or administrator of this curriculum will truly be a caddie to the youth in their gallery, these students will be able to attain lofty STEM learning goals while playing through STEM Golf.

Each STEM Golf kit comes with one (1) STEM Golf Curriculum Manual, PGA Tour Tee-Up products – three (3) medium-size irons, three (3) large-size irons, two (2) medium-size putters and two (2) large-size putters (length of clubs correlates to student’s height), four (4) targets, and eight (8) balls along with six (6) Callaway Golf balls, three (3) Callaway Golf balls cut-in-half, six (6) digital stopwatches and six (6) 25-foot tape measures.

No experience or previous knowledge of golf is required to teach this curriculum. Our STEM Sports Golf manual includes all of the necessary information about the sport and the science behind it to properly implement the curriculum.

Each manual contains content for a minimum of 16 hours of instruction that includes healthy, physical activity. All of the supplies in the kit are non-perishable and are designed to last for several years. Some supplied items may need to be replaced over time.

Yes, a total of four left-handed clubs (two left-handed irons, two left-handed putters) per STEM Golf kit are included.

It is recommended that the STEM Golf kit be used outdoors for ease of implementation and to allow students to see the impacts of grass surfaces on their golf swing. Any school field or suitable playground grass area will work.

STEM Golf includes activities and lessons surrounding the forces involved in a golf swing, the properties of a golf ball and how it impacts performance, and much more.

Yes, digital resources are available for all of our STEM Sports kits by visiting the digital tools link found in your curriculum manual.

Each curriculum has eight lessons aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and/or Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and/or National Standards for K-12 Physical Education.
