SUPPLEMENTAL CURRICULUM

Looking for a great way to spike interest in volleyball? Our STEM Volleyball program is a fantastic platform that is easy to implement, attractive to young players and features a standardized, turnkey supplemental curriculum that looks at the science, technology, engineering and math behind the great game of volleyball.

The STEM Volleyball program serves up strategic STEM-based activities with basic volleyball gameplay along with recent technological and engineering advancements that have enhanced the game.

This enables students the opportunity to get behind the sport they love with eight different modules and lessons that volley around the game such as:

  • Learning the science of force, acceleration and mass and Newton’s second law of motion
  • Discovering the technology behind optimal serving speed
  • Understanding the engineering design process and creating solutions to problems
  • Using math to measure the area and perimeter of a volleyball court

The net result of the STEM Volleyball program? Students will become critical thinkers, gain cognitive skills and deeper introspection…and not just during game play. They will learn life skills with transferable, real-life applications during their experience and they will really dig it!

Each STEM Volleyball kit comes with one (1) STEM Volleyball Supplemental Curriculum Manual, six (6) Molten First Touch Volleyballs, six (6) Molten Soft Touch Volleyballs, and six (6) Molten Recreational Volleyballs. Additionally, each kit includes one (1) Bushnell radar gun, six (6) ribbon spools, six (6) masking tape rolls, one (1) ball pump, one (1) package of ball needles, one (1) package of 100 12-inch latex balloons, one (1) weight scale, six (6) 25-foot tape measures, one (1) box of 500 toothpicks, one (1) package of 100 straws, one (1) spool of fishing line, and two (2) Molten ball bags, one (1) ball pump, and one (1) set of inflation needles.

No experience or previous knowledge of volleyball is required to teach this curriculum. Our STEM Sports Volleyball manual includes all of the necessary information about the sport and the science behind it to properly implement the curriculum.

Each manual contains content for a minimum of 16 hours of instruction that includes healthy, physical activity. All of the supplies in the kit are non-perishable and are designed to last for several years. Some supplied items may need to be replaced over time.

STEM Volleyball includes activities and lessons surrounding the technology behind optimal serving speed, understanding the engineering design process, and much more.

Yes, volleyball lessons are designed for use in both indoor and outdoor settings. However, an outdoor environment (i.e. volleyball court, grass field, etc.) is recommended for ease of implementation.

Yes, digital resources are available for all of our STEM Sports kits by visiting the digital tools link found in your curriculum manual.

Each curriculum has eight lessons aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and/or Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and/or National Standards for K-12 Physical Education.
