On March 30th, STEM Sports® CEO Jeff Golner made a trip down to Mexico City to implement our STEM curriculum on behalf of HandsOn Mexico. HandsOn is a non-profit organization that focuses on the betterment of communities and youth support. They are based out of Atlanta, Georgia but have satellite organizations across the United States and internationally.
Over 150 children from the Club de Niños y Niñas (CNyN) came to the club to learn STEM concepts through the use of sports. American Express employees volunteered to help facilitate the event and the curriculum instruction.
Jeff was there to give the volunteers instructions on how to conduct each module prior to the event and acted as the lead facilitator throughout the entire day.
“It was an outstanding event. The debate now is who was rewarded the most: the Club’s youth members or the volunteers from American Express,” said Jeff.
The volunteers taught the children using STEM lessons derived from STEM Basketball, STEM Football, STEM Soccer and STEM Volleyball kits.
STEM Sports® feels extremely lucky to have been able to be a part of such an amazing opportunity. Upon finishing the day camp, STEM Sports® left the curriculum and all of the supplies with CNyN so that the children will be able to learn STEM in the future.
